Risk assessment for potato and sweetpotato pests and diseases
Changes in disease and insect-pest severity will exacerbate existing vulnerabilities of the poorest people who depend on agriculture. Theme 1 will investigate the potential risks for a change in disease and insect-pest distribution and severity.
For this purpose, pest and disease models will be developed and used in combination with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools to assess future risks and impact of climate change on agricultural pests. This theme includes two outputs namely global risks for potato and sweetpotato insect pests assessed and forecasted, and global risks for potato and sweetpotato diseases assessed and forecasted for future climate.
