Biography

Abiyot Aragaw is an agronomist based in Hawassa, Ethiopia. He holds an M.Sc. in Horticulture and has work experience in horticultural crops research, including participation in crop improvement and regenerative agriculture. Since joining CIP in 2012, he has contributed to the implementation of several research-for-development projects aimed at expanding potato and sweetpotato technologies in Ethiopia.

Abiyot aspires to see potato and sweetpotato crops maintain their essential role in contributing to food and nutrition security in the country through the development of best-fit technologies. He is particularly interested in research that develops varieties and management practices tailored to the needs of farmers in different agroecologies and farming systems.
