Biography

Banchayehu is an Agricultural Systems Associate Scientist based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Banchaye’s background is in Development and Agricultural Economics and has experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques and research. She holds a PhD in Plant Production Systems from Wageningen University and Research. Banchayehu joined CIP Ethiopia in August 2023. 

She is responsible for developing and implementing a toolbox for considering systems-related areas of interest (referred to as ‘Add-on activities’), mainly analyses on gender, farmer segmentation, climate, yield gap decomposition, and farmers’ agricultural practices within the Use Cases associated with the Excellence in Agronomy (EiA) Initiative. In addition, she supports the assessment of agronomic gain key performance indicators (KPIs) and Monitoring & Evaluation, Learning, and Impact Assessment (MELIA) in the Use Cases.
