Biography

Debashish Chanda is a country program coordinator based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He earned his Ph.D. in Plant Breeding & Seed Production. Additionally, he has an M.Sc. in Biotechnology from Kuban State Agricultural University, Krasnodar, Russia. In addition to leading the country program, he is also in charge of the sweet potato portfolio in Bangladesh. He plays a key role in fundraising, partner management, and liaising with donors, the government, and other stakeholders. He has worked on market and value chain development. Debashish has conducted research on seed production, biotechnology, plant breeding, field trials, yield analysis, adaptive research on post-harvest technologies, and food fortification. He has thirty-nine publications, including brochures, booklets, newsletters, and scientific articles on various topics in food and agriculture, published in different national and international scientific journals.
