Biography
Eliya Kapalasa is an agricultural economist based in Lilongwe, Malawi. He holds a Master in Economics from the University of Malawi, specializing in Agricultural Economics and Monetary Economics. Additionally, he has an MSc in Agricultural and Development Economics from the University of Reading, UK. Eliya has been working to promote the development of sustainable value chains for orange-fleshed sweet potatoes and potatoes in Malawi since he joined CIP in 2012. Recently, Eliya has been entrusted with coordinating the monitoring, evaluation, and learning for one of CIP Malawi’s projects due to his enthusiasm for transforming the roots and tuber sector. His research passions include the adoption of technologies, value chain analysis, and projects that aim to transform the livelihoods of farmers.
