Biography

Fabiola Catalan is an agricultural engineer based in Lima, Peru. She holds a master’s degree in plant breeding. Since 2022, Fabiola has been part of CIP, where she works in the cultivated potato group of the genebank. She oversees the molecular area, where molecular data is obtained, and fundamental analyses are performed for decision-making in identity verification, quality management (QMS), and duplicate detection. Through this work, she contributes to the conservation of potato biodiversity. Using advanced molecular analysis techniques, she supports the identification and characterization of genetic resources essential for maintaining and preserving the genetic diversity of potatoes. This work is crucial for securing the seeds and genes of potatoes that will serve as food in the future.
