Biography
Hannele Lindqvist-Kreuze is the head of CIP’s global breeding program for potato and sweet potato based in Lima, Peru. She holds a Ph.D. from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Her goal with the breeding program is to deliver improved varieties for rapid adoption by smallholder farmers in developing countries. She leads a multicultural breeding team of more than eighty staff based in six countries across three continents (South America, Asia, and Africa). Under her leadership, the CIP breeding program has transitioned into a unified program focusing on both crops.
Hannele is enthusiastic about developing and delivering improved crop varieties that can benefit smallholder farmers and consumers in the Global South. She is also passionate about using bioinformatics and genomics to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of breeding
