Biography
Mariam Nakitto is a food scientist and nutritionist based in Kampala, Uganda. She holds an MSc in Food and Nutrition. Since 2019, she has supported the breeding team at CIP by integrating and prioritizing eating quality traits during selections.
Mariam is skilled in both field and lab-based experiments, including a variety of sensory evaluation techniques, biophysical and biochemical analysis of food, and analyzing consumer behavior. She is passionate about bridging sociology and natural sciences to create transdisciplinary research tools and technologies aimed at providing practical and sustainable solutions to hunger, food, and nutrition insecurity in vulnerable communities.
