Biography
Mary Mwangi is a biotechnologist based in Nairobi, Kenya. She holds a BSc in Biochemistry. Mary is an expert in molecular biology and plant pathology with experience from different leading research institutions in Kenya and The Sainsbury Laboratory (TSL), UK. Skilled in plant science and biotechnology techniques, Mary has been working with the International Potato Center’s biotechnology team in Kenya to develop disease-resistant in farmer preferred varieties. Mary has been particularly working on the potato bacterial wilt disease since 2021.Mary is passionate about addressing food insecurity in Africa using root and tubers through innovative research techniques by understanding the crop pathology and pathogen genomics, to achieve sustainable agriculture solutions.
