Biography
Reynaldo Solis is a biologist based in Lima, Peru. He holds a master’s degree in plant Breeding and an additional master’s degree in Project Management. Throughout his career, he has accumulated experience in natural resource conservation, plant tissue culture, and sustainable project management. He has worked on the vegetative propagation of tropical species using techniques such as in vitro culture and rooting of cuttings. Additionally, he has conducted measurements of carbon stocks and analyzed biodiversity in different land uses in the Peruvian Amazon. He has also implemented sustainable land use practices in rural communities in the region, promoting approaches that ensure both environmental conservation and the well-being of local communities.
Since joining CIP, he has worked as a specialist in the in vitro conservation of sweet potatoes in the genebank. Additionally, he has been responsible for cleaning pathogens in the in vitro collections of potatoes, sweet potatoes, and Andean roots and tuber crops. Reynaldo is interested in applying his knowledge and skills at the intersection of biology, sustainability, and project management. He seeks to participate in innovative projects that contribute to sustainable development and the conservation of natural resources.
