Biography
Sarah Mayanja is a senior research associate based in Kampala, Uganda. An agro-ecologist by training, she has been working as a gender scientist in Uganda since 2011. Sarah holds an M.Sc. in Agro-ecology and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Agro-ecology and Food Systems. She has extensive experience in gender-responsive food systems, including gendered product profiling, seed system assessments, postharvest research, and value chain development. Currently, she is CIP’s principal investigator for the NRI-led NUTRI+4AID Project (funded by IMMANA) and co-principal investigator for USAID’s BHA project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Cameroon. Sarah is passionate about improving the livelihoods of smallholder women and youth farmers through the promotion of inclusive agribusiness models that strengthen their agency and well-being.
