CIP’s Asia presence was opened in India in 1975 after forming a partnership with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research for scientific and technical co-operation in research on potato improvement. Geographically, the program is focused on the Indo-Gangetic plains that cover an extensive area, from Pakistan to Bangladesh, the highlands of South Asia with Nepal, Bhutan, Central Asia, and the Southeast Asia countries of Indonesia, The Philippines and Vietnam.
