Virginia Tech launches the 2019 Global Agricultural Productivity (GAP) Report with a discussion of the role of agricultural productivity in achieving sustainable diets, and more. The Report demonstrates that through agricultural productivity growth, attention to ecosystem services, and reducing waste and loss, we can reach our global nutritional and environmental goals without eliminating nutrient-dense foods that consumers need and want. Yet according to the 2019 GAP Index™, global agricultural productivity growth is not rising fast enough to achieve sustainable nutritious food and agricultural systems.
