Rwanda Biotech Capacity Building (BioCap) Project Launch
Rwanda, through RAB and in partnership with the International Potato Center (CIP) and global research institutions, has launched a new program to build national capacity in modern crop biotechnology. The initiative will establish a Center of Excellence for Crop Biotechnology at RAB Rubona, equipping Rwandan scientists with advanced skills in genetic transformation, genome editing, molecular diagnostics, and biosafety.
This program strengthens Rwanda’s ability to develop and regulate enhanced potato and cassava varieties tailored to national needs, supporting food security and climate resilience.
