International Women’s Day

Happy International Women’s Day! The International Potato Center (CIP) would like to mark this special day by celebrating the achievements of so many extraordinary individuals who have collaborated in our mission to find sustainable solutions for food security, well being, and gender equality in developing countries around the world.

We recommend viewing a video made by CIP’s Mama SASHA project (Sweetpotato Action for Security and Health in Africa), which is now available online. This video focuses on the outstanding results being achieved by the Project’s initiative to integrate orange-fleshed sweetpotato (OSFP) into antenatal healthcare services in order to maximize nutritional benefits for undernourished mothers and children.

We would also like to mark this special day by announcing the appointment of Dr. Netsayi Noris Mudege as CIP’s new Gender Research Coordinator. Dr. Mudege will coordinate the development and implementation of the Gender Strategy of the CIP-led CGIAR Research Program on Roots, Tubers and Bananas (RTB) and serve as CIP’s Gender Focal point to support the Center’s efforts to implement a gender-responsive research program. We welcome Dr. Mudege and look forward to having her as a member of the CIP team.
