CIP at Africa Food Systems Forum

CIP, a member of OneCGIAR, will participate in the Africa Food Systems Forum with a side event titled ‘What do Root and Tuber Crops Contribute to Agrifood Systems Transformation?’.

The session will highlight interrelated issues around the contribution of CGIAR’s research on Root & Tuber crops (RTC) to the recovery and rebuilding of Africa’s food systems especially in response to crisis and shocks. The session will include keynote presentations and interactive audience participation focusing on inclusive RTC value chains (potato, sweetpotato and cassava) and sharing of current research evidence that make RTC important for climate resilience and adaptation. The discussions will also focus on opportunities and untapped potential of Root and Tuber Crops in humanitarian and fragile contexts. The panel and audience discussion will explore questions on the role of evidence-based policies and scaling approaches for RTC through investments and strategic partnerships to effectively address complex challenges of food and nutrition security, sustainability, and inclusive development.
