Harnessing the potential of tropical tuber crops under changing climate

27/10/2020
Via Zoom

Climate change is taking a serious toll on agricultural productivity around the world, threatening food and nutrition security. Yield losses in major crops are expected to range between 9 and 25%, whereas food demand is expected to increase twofold by the end of the 21st century. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, new issues are emerging in the field of agriculture and allied sectors. Tropical tuber crops will have a key role to play in sustaining and improving food security as they are highly tolerant of biotic and abiotic stresses. This webinar is organized to provide insight into novel approaches to enhance the productivity of tropical tuber crops through the use of modern breeding tools, efficient plant production systems, and plant protection approaches. This webinar has been organized by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute (ICAR-CTCRI), Government of India.
