RTB Breakout Session: “Unleashing a New Green Revolution: Delivering Food Security, Climate Resilience, and Poverty Alleviation with RTB Crops in Africa”

This breakout session will explore the transformative role of root, tuber, and banana (RTB) crops—banana, cassava, potato, sweet potato, and yam—in tackling food insecurity and the impacts of climate change in Sub-Saharan Africa. Panelists will discuss cutting-edge innovations in breeding, scaling, and partnerships that are driving RTB crops’ contribution to food security, climate resilience, and poverty alleviation.

The session will highlight how these crops can empower smallholder farmers economically and socially, offering sustainable solutions for the future of agriculture in Africa.
