Potatoes could contribute even more to world history and global food security and total production of the food crop could double in the next 10 years. The statement was delivered by Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), in his keynote presentation to the 11th World Potato Congress (WPC) convened in Dublin on Monday.
According to Qu, potatoes are the world’s third most important food crop and are regularly consumed by billions of people.
