Goals of Andean research go beyond agricultural benefits

Earlier we discussed the challenges being faced by farmers in the high Andean regions of Peru. Today, we find out about the goals of the research to be conducted there. The goal of the research being conducted is first and foremost to help the people of the high Andes region. We hear from Ginya Truitt Nakata of the International Potato Center (CIP).

Reaching the goals isn’t just a walk in the park either. Jesus Quintana is with the International Fund for Agricultural Development. He says the people need education on agriculture, nutrition, and marketing. The people are willing to make changes, but they need the support of both the public and private sectors.
