Malnutrition has been a challenge in South Africa for a very long time, with a particular impact on children under 5 years of age. This is reflected in the recently released 2020 South African Child Gauge report which revealed that 44% of children under the age of 5 suffer from vitamin A deficiency and 27% are stunted.
