Biography
Birhanu Biazin Temesgen is a Country Manager and Project Manager in Ghana. He holds a Ph.D. in Water Management for Dryland Agriculture. He is an expert in dryland agriculture and natural resource management. Birhanu has previous experience coordinating integrated agriculture, nutrition, and marketing projects in Ethiopia.
Before joining CIP Ghana in 2022, he worked for the International Livestock Research Institute and the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics. At CIP Ghana, he manages the CIP Ghana portfolio and an integrated climate-smart Agriculture-Nutrition-Marketing project running from 2025 to 2026.
Birhanu is interested in climate-smart agriculture, sustainable production, and value chain development for dryland systems. He is also focused on developing low-cost irrigation techniques for staggered production and marketing of dryland crops such as orange-fleshed sweetpotato, fruits, and other vegetables.
