Biography
Osman Wiredu is a food technologist based in Ghana. With a background in chemical engineering, he has eight years of experience in food product development processes, process design, and economic analysis within value-added food systems. Skilled in food innovations, Osman operated his own bakery and agro-processing company for five years before joining the CIP in 2022.
At CIP, he leads the agro-processing component of an integrated climate-smart agriculture, nutrition, and marketing project in Ghana. Osman has collaborated with food businesses to assess the nutritional and economic potential of orange-fleshed sweetpotato (OFSP) in processed foods in Northern Ghana. He has led the development of both traditional and modern food items, such as bread, biscuits, crisps, koose (cowpea fritters), and bofrot (doughnuts), using OFSP puree as a key ingredient. Passionate about food innovation, Osman is particularly interested in contributing to the improvement of the local agrifood system.
