Biography
Elly Atineo is a scientist based in Nairobi, Kenya. He holds a master’s degree in plant pathology from the University of Nairobi and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the Graduate School for Production Ecology & Resource Conservation at Wageningen University and Research. Elly’s journey with CIP began in 2012, initially focusing on late blight management options. Over the years, he has taken on various roles within the organization, overseeing diverse capacity-building and research projects across multiple African countries, including Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Burundi, South Sudan, and Nigeria. His areas of expertise include seed systems development, establishment of sanitary and phytosanitary systems, early-generation seed production technologies, as well as diagnostics and management of plant diseases.
