Biography

Fanny Vargas is Agricultural Engineer with a specialization in Botany and the curator of the CIP Herbarium based in Lima, Peru. She gained her professional title from the National Agrarian University, Peru. Since 1984, she has been supporting, Professor Carlos Ochoa (Emeritus Scientist of CIP) as an intern in the Taxonomy Area in the publication of his books on Potatoes of South America, Vol I Bolivia (1990) and Peru (1999). Since 1989, as part of the CIP staff, she has been implementing the Herbarium with new infrastructure and maintaining the preservation of all herbarium specimens of each accession of all the crops that CIP oversees.
